I have always been passionate about working with children, with a particular interest in working with individuals with special needs. From babysitting to tutoring, running youth programming at local synagogues, and working as a counselor and job coach for individuals with special needs at sleepaway camps, I have really learned a tremendous amount from each of my experiences, and they have helped me to further develop my calm, patient, and empathetic nature.
I love working with each of my patients to help improve their oral hygiene and overcome any fears they may have of the dentist. Kids are so lighthearted and genuinely just want to know that you care about them and will keep them safe. Once I establish that sense of security with my patients, I love to see their personalities come out and try to learn from them about ways to make going to the dentist more fun. — Dr. Friedman
Dentistry for Special People is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Miriam Ciner Friedman to our growing family of pediatric specialists. Dr. Friedman comes to us with stellar credentials, having earned her bachelor’s degree at Yeshiva University in New York City.
She was a Dean’s Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed her pediatric dental residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Dr. Friedman’s long list of accomplishments would be incomplete without mentioning her dedication to helping kids with special needs. She has been a camp counselor to young adults with special needs as far back as 2007, and helped them to learn the skills they need for daily living. Being a young mother herself, she is also an expert on the concept of the “Dental Home,” and the importance of the age-one dental visit.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Friedman loves spending time with her husband and adorable children. She enjoys cooking and scrapbooking, serves on the board of her synagogue, and is involved in several other community initiatives.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Friedman join our team and are certain that you all will feel the same.
